The crossbase software solution is based on an Oracle database and includes an embedded software license. This enables optimum system integration, easy administration and flexible usage, without those responsible for IT having to deal with organizational or technical details.
The user interfaces of the crossbase applications are delivered with a selectable language and optionally offered in other languages. The application languages German, English and French are currently available.
The web architecture is based on web and API servers. It enables users to maintain and translate product information and media assets. This is done regardless of location and according to the authorizations assigned to the respective user. In addition, characteristics, images, texts and relationships can be edited in tabular comparison. At a glance, users are able to see where data is missing, where it differs or where it has been inherited. There are extensive options for sorting, grouping, filtering and customizing the interface.
With the configurable data hub, data transfers and batch programs can be controlled automatically. Many crossbase applications can be started batchwise by means of parameters, e.g. translation management, text generation, data imports, and data exports. But it can also be used in conjunction with other applications. The log information is visually displayed on a cockpit interface. This makes it the ideal general-purpose tool for IT administrators.
crossbase is an open system and has an XML standard interface for importing data from upstream systems. Data such as item numbers, brief texts and prices can be imported into the PIM database automatically at defined times. Furthermore, data requiring maintenance in the PIM system can also be transferred back into the ERP system.
crossbase provides a graphical interface to analyze the structure of Excel and BMEcat files and to map columns to database fields. Transformation rules can be used for fully automatic conversions. These settings can be saved and reapplied to similar files.
In most cases, item master data from the ERP system is not sufficient to ensure market- and media-oriented and customer-oriented product communication. Therefore, the supplementary maintenance of product structures, product features and product relationships, such as spare parts, accessories and product recommendations, follows. Mandatory fields and inheritance functions can be used to optimize data maintenance.
Not only photos, graphics and symbols are collected and categorized independently of media in the integrated Media Asset Management (MAM), but also documents, videos and CAD drawings. Starting from the source format, media-compatible output formats are automatically generated for print, Internet or Office. This is done with the integrated graphic and video converter, or alternatively with Adobe Photoshop. The video converter can be used to generate all common video formats and to edit video sequences.
Texts are captured independently of the media and managed in a granular way so that they can be reused and maintenance investments are considerably reduced. The variety of texts can be clearly structured by means of categories, versions and languages and managed in the crossbase database in all the languages of the world independently of media with XML and Unicode.
The demands on manufacturers and retailers regarding eCommerce sales channels and market-specific communication are constantly increasing. The crossbase solution offers comprehensive channel output management, enabling electronic sales channels such as stores, websites, portals and retail partners to be served optimally. Print media can also be generated in a market-specific manner.
The fully integrated modules for data quality management, product preview and page status control ensure that product information is complete and up-to-date in the output channels for online and print. Progress indicators, maintenance wizards and color indicators assist data maintenance and print production when changes are made.
With a standardized and database-driven translation process, up-to-date product communication is made possible in all markets. The translation can be done directly in the crossbase database, externally at an agency or in the national company. Each text is given a status so that it can be seen at any time whether it is being translated and whether it has been checked.
With browser-based online translation, translators and correctors in the country offices have access to translation or correction jobs. Control is provided by the translation manager. The translator can view the progress at any time, assign orders accordingly and inform the translators.
One of the most important tasks in digital product communication is the provision of data for online catalogs, shops, external systems, retail partners and portals. For this purpose, electronic catalogs with a customer-specific assortment and a price list are created in the crossbase database. The mapping of the fields to the contents in the database can be defined individually depending on the format or classification.
The crossbase API Server (Application Programming Interface) offers a flexible way to access data in the crossbase database in third-party systems. These accesses remain independent of changes to the underlying data model. Via the interface, experienced software developers can effortlessly write a program or read the data in the crossbase database.
The Sales Information Service provides web-based, read-only access to product information and media within the company. Authorized users can employ it in order to view and use current images, documents, texts, translations and other product information.
The CMS can be used as a basis platform ("headless") for the online modules (online catalog and media service). The crossbase CMS is fully integrated into the crossbase database so that all data such as product information, texts, translations, images and videos are available.
The module for the integration of online catalogs (optionally with dynamic product finder and store functions) is based on the CMS platform of crossbase. This allows for independent adaptations of templates or stylesheets. All data for the online media are processed according to the media and up-to-date from the crossbase database – automatically for all countries and languages.
Media portal, media library, self-service, download area – the names are many. Basically, it's about employees, national companies or partners wanting to easily find and use up-to-date photos, graphics, videos and documents for marketing the products. This is possible with the fully integrated MAM and media service: media files can be made available to authorized users via a convenient web interface.
Mobile devices are well established in the sales dialog. All files, catalogs, media and documents can be accessed digitally on the mobile device and thus be carried along without taking up space or adding weight. crossbase offers an interface to mobile applications with the powerful REST API. Alternatively, individual online catalogs and media service portals can be implemented with crossbase's CMS, which can be flexibly displayed on smartphone, tablet or notebook (Responsive Layout).
Fully automatically produced InDesign pages - this is easy to realize with the crossbase print tools. Using the flexible layout kit, you can produce not just structured print publications, but also creatively complex pages, such as artwork pages and editorial pages, with the aid of a database.
In many areas of the company, images and graphics from marketing are used - for example for offers, data sheets and presentations. The direct Office connection (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) ensures the provision of current marketing content with powerful search mechanisms and easy operation. This reliably supports compliance with the corporate design and corporate wording.
